Trump Approves Iran Strike Plans Amid Escalating Tensions, But Final Decision Still Pending

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has approved military strike plans targeting Iran but has yet to give the final go-ahead, according to a CBS News report citing senior intelligence sources. The proposed action reportedly includes a potential strike on Fordo, Iran’s fortified underground uranium enrichment facility.

Trump, wearing a signature white “Make America Great Again” hat during recent appearances, doubled down on his demand for Tehran’s unconditional surrender, stating, “I’ve had it,” and suggesting his patience with Iran’s nuclear ambitions has run out.

Despite approving operational plans, Trump has withheld immediate action in hopes Iran might still abandon its nuclear program. “I may do it, I may not do it,” he told reporters, keeping his intentions deliberately ambiguous. “Nobody knows what I’m going to do.”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected the U.S. demand in a firm televised address, declaring, “The Iranian nation will not surrender,” and warning that any U.S. intervention would come at a high cost. He added that Trump’s threats reeked of desperation.

Iran also issued a defiant statement via its mission to the United Nations, posting on X (formerly Twitter):

“Iran does NOT negotiate under duress, shall NOT accept peace under duress, and certainly NOT with a has-been warmonger clinging to relevance.”

Meanwhile, the regional conflict has escalated, with Israel intensifying its own strikes on Iranian missile and nuclear targets. Iran responded by launching hypersonic missiles, although Israel reported no significant damage.

Khamenei’s appearance marked his first public response since Israel’s pre-emptive strikes began on Friday, and tensions continue to mount across the region.

As speculation grows, Trump’s silence on a definitive course of action leaves the world watching and waiting.
