Most people hear 10% and think it’s over.
A severe staph infection came out of nowhere like a sucker punch to the back of the head and put Kory Ivey into a coma.
When he woke up, the guys in the white coats gave him a 10% chance to walk and only a 30% chance to talk.
Ten percent was all Kory heard.
Kory had two young daughters at home who needed their dad.
But he did not wake up filled with confidence and ready to prove everybody wrong. Numbers like that get inside your head. There was anger. There was pain. Lots of pain.
There was hopelessness.
Kory went through it before he found his way through it.
Then the 10% started to look different.
It was not a guarantee. It was not a promise. But it was not zero.
“I can be that 10%.”
That’s when the real work started.
Kory had to defy the odds and relearn how to walk and talk while dealing with the physical, mental, and emotional roadblocks.
Nothing about it was quick. Nothing about it was easy.
Day by day.
Step by step.
Piece by piece.
Kory learned to walk.
He learned to talk.
The guys in the white coats gave Kory their numbers. They did not get to decide what he would do with them.
“I do not accept your version of my reality.”
That belief became part of how Kory approaches adversity. It does not mean ignoring reality or pretending a bad situation is good. It means somebody else’s lack of belief in him does not become his reality. What Kory believes is possible shapes his reality.

“I don’t need you to believe in me for me to believe in me.”
The name came later, but the principles were already there.
3P Soup™: Recipe for Success.
Patience.
When everything that can go wrong does.
Persistence.
When you want to quit but don’t.
Perseverance.
Getting back up again, and again, and again.
These are not three shortcuts dressed up as a success formula. They describe what Kory had to live when there was no easy way out.
Patience when his body would not move on his schedule.
Persistence when the work had to be done again the next day.
Perseverance when staying down would have been easier than getting back up.
Most people think grit means putting your head down, taking the punishment, and somehow hanging on. Kory sees it differently. Grit should teach you something. It should force you to adapt, find another way, and turn whatever tries to break you into something with purpose.
That is innovative grit.
Today, Kory Ivey is a transformational speaker, creator of 3P Soup™: Recipe for Success, and Founder of the 30-Day LifeChanger™.
Those same principles later became the foundation of the 30-Day LifeChanger™.
Kory knows people do not always need another person telling them to think positively.
Sometimes they need one honest reason to believe their temporary situation is not the end.
One reason to take another step.
One reason to keep going.
One drop of hope.

“One Drop of Hope is More Powerful than a Sea of Despair.”
The guys in the white coats gave Kory a 10% chance to walk.
He walked.
They gave him a 30% chance to talk.
He talks.
Today, he takes the stage for the person who thinks it’s over.
Kory Ivey doesn’t do odds. He beats them.
